Motorola X Phone will reportedly become the first smartphone co-developed by the US-based phone maker and Google, and one of the first in the world to come pre-loaded with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Even though Google acquired Motorola almost a year ago, the two companies didn’t team-up to develop a Nexus smartphone, as the Mountain View-based company chose LG to develop the popular Nexus 4.

The situation might become different after the Motorola X Phone is launched, a smartphone that will not belong to the Nexus tribe, but one that will be equipped with the latest iteration of the operating system developed by Google.

Either way, the rumor mill says that the Google / Motorola X Phone will come with a 4.7-inch display with Full HD resolution, similar to the panel used for the new HTC One flagship.

Motorola X Phone will most likely be the first smartphone on the market to be underpinned by Nvidia’s new Tegra 4i platform, including a quad-core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, 60-core GPU, five times more than on Tegra 3, and 4G LTE support.

The smartphone might also come with a primary 16 megapixel camera, which is supposed to outmatch the 13 megapixel sensor of the Sony Xperia Z, and, a user-facing 5 megapixel camera.

Moreover, Motorola X Phone might benefit from Nvidia Chimera, a part of the Tegra 4i platform, which is supposed to provide HDR and other advanced processing features.

The secondary camera will also be used as a sensor for a new touchless control technology, which involves scrolling web pages by tracking user’s eyes. Rumor has it that the same feature will also be included on Samsung Galaxy S4, a smartphone that will see the light of day later this week.

Sources say that Motorola X Phone will measure 131,2 x 66,7 x 7,9 mm, but the design might not be the one pictured in the first leaked photo of the alleged model.

According to the rumor mill, Motorola X Phone will be announced at the Google I/O event scheduled for May 15 – 17, synchronized with the debut of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
